I've know Lisa for about six years, but for the last year she has become an integral part of my support team. She just gets it. And when you're going through all this infertility stuff, it's important to have people in your life that get it. All of it.
Noah and I interviewed Lisa and David before we did our first IVF cycle. They had been through everything. IVF, miscarriages, donor eggs, surrogacy, adoption. Everything. And more importantly, they are sane, happy, successful people with two great sons, one who is adopted and one who was conceived through donor egg/surrogacy.
As Noah and I continue to try and navigate this world, I often go back to this conversation with them to remind myself that we will have a family. That the goal is not just about getting pregnant, but it's about having a family. That we need to find ways to live and be happy, even though it's hard to escape the anxiety and frustration of not knowing how or when this process will finally come to an end.
