Don't Count Your Eggs

Thanks for the love! To answer the comment about different protocols, yeah, it's crazy. I think clinics like to grow out to a day five blastocyst because that means the embryo is at its strongest, but not all embryos make it to that stage in a dish, meaning embryos that may have been ok in the uterus may not survive. My doc wanted to get to day five and if we had a good amount of embryos to choose from he would have, and the would not have put in more than two. But since we didn't have a lot of embryos, we couldn't afford to lose any so he wanted to get them in asap, thinking nature's oven is the best place. I was REALLY surprised that he wanted to put in 3. I''m 33 so the standard is 3 max I think. But since we only had three good ones and one started as B quality, it was kind of like just put them all in. My hubby immediately thought that means triplets, and it doesn't. I mean, I guess it could, but not everything survives. So transferring one good one isn't a bad choice to reduce the chance of multiples. I want a baby so bad I don't care how many! Well, three would be a lot. Oy.

Fingers crossed all goes well!! Have been reading your blog for a while but am only starting on the ivf journey. Interesting to read how protocols are diff between clinics - ours will only transfer 1 embryo in most cases and only on day 5... I hope you'll have sticky ones this time round!

Saying lots of prayers for you. I just went through my first cycle (it was unsuccessful) so I know how you feel. Been reading your blog every day. I swear you say exactly what I'm thinking (and I'm a huge Giants fan, too, so I love your hubby's blog). GOOD LUCK!!
