...This year we have more unusal things to be thankful for.
Yes. We have so much gratitude for our family and friends, good food on the table, the fact that my in-laws grow apples and have made some sort of massive "crumble," my sister for all she tried to do for us this year, my yoga practice, the roof over our heads, each other. There's a lot to appreciate always, and it's important to remember all those things we have when we are feeling so lost and empty.
But we also have to appreciate that there are people out there who donate parts of themselves to people like us and that we live in a country where, though it's wildly expensive, it is legal and not completely frowned upon. Though egg donors and sperm donors may have additional incentives to donating, it's an amazing gift for a stranger to give another stranger.
Another gift we've started looking more into is embryo donation or embryo adoption. I'll write more about it when I can fully wrap my head around it, but for now I'll just say that people on IF Island have choices about what they want to do with their unused embryos, and some people choose to donate them to people like us. I'm so thankful for all those couples who make that choice, because that just may be where our baby comes from.
Wishing everyone out there a beautiful holiday. I am thankful for all the support from my online family and hope you all have a day full of gratitude and pie.
Hey Maya,
Loved your post!!! I feel very grateful each minute for the very fact that I am able to sustain myself with nutritious food, a loving family, music and prayers. I think it is this feeling which makes everyone want to do their bit too for others. The fact that you are hopeful and open to all options is the key to new experiences..keep it up Maya..all my best wishes and prayers for you..
